Hunter's Moon is a love story set in Western Washington State in the year 1994. Stance Kempe is a forty-three year old tree farmer who lives a solitary life on the side of One-up Mountain. Having experienced a checkered past and a failed marriage, he limits his friends to Rich, his incarcerated Vietnam War buddy, and Carl, an old hermit. Riva Taylor, at twenty-six, lives a few miles away in North Bend where she is dominated by an abusive father who rules his four children with an iron hand.(72,000 words)
